Over the past 18 months, the price of lithium carbonate has risen at a huge rate. The Financial Times reported that in ‘January 2021, according to S&P Global Platt’s, lithium carbonate cost about $9,600 tonne and at the end of this January the same material would be quoted at more than $50,000 per tonne.’
At Devine Chemicals, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of delivering speciality chemical solutions to meet the changing needs of our customers globally. Our DeCAL 9090 and DeCAL 9095 grades offer a cost-effective alternative to lithium carbonate. Specifically designed as hydration accelerators, they have been designed for fast setting cementitious systems.
DeCAL 9090 and DeCAL 9095 accelerate setting times and early strength through faster activation of the hydration process in Portland, HAC and CSA cement phases. They are also highly effective at low temperatures and compatible with all types of hydraulic binders and additives.
Dan Devine, Commercial Director at Devine Chemicals, said: “The surge in demand for lithium carbonate looks set to continue and if suppliers can’t keep pace, businesses will need to consider alternatives. Our DeCAL 9090 and DeCAL 9095 are suitable for a range of applications including fast setting cementitious products, tile adhesives and grouts, self-levelling floor screeds and concrete repair systems.”
