What you need to know about Titanium Dioxide

Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) is the brightest, whitest pigment available.

Titanium Dioxides (TiO2) is the brightest, whitest pigment available. TiO2 is very versatile and thanks to its brightness and high levels of opacity (hiding power), the use of titanium dioxide includes coatings, plastic, paper making, printing ink, chemical fibre, enamel, ceramics, rubber and cosmetics.

Devine Chemicals’ DeTOX range of Titanium Dioxides boast a breadth of benefits including:

  • Vibrant whiteness
  • High opacity
  • Excellent tinting strength
  • High covering power
  • Outstanding weather resistance
  • High chemical stability
  • Lower toxicity – when compared to other pigment

TiO2 uses and Pigments

An advanced chloride process is used for the manufacturing of the rutile titanium pigment (referred to as R type).

Working in partnership with a global developer, Devine Chemicals has recently strengthened its TiO2 product portfolio with an additional five products to further enhance its offering of world class chemicals. These applications have been tailored for specific TiO2 uses including plastics, coatings, inks and solvent borne coatings.

The new product range includes:

R-MPS – Workhorse product, appropriate for a wide variety of coatings
R-MB30 – Masterbatch grade for plastics. High heat resistance
R-PSC – Tailored for solvent based coatings and PVC applications
R-SCI – Tailored for solvent based coatings and ink applications
A-100 – Anatase grade, currently being trialled in photocatalytic systems

We also offer YR-803 which is recommended for general purpose use of titanium dioxide.

The new grades of TiO2 will enable our customers to have a wider variety of the use of titanium dioxide products to choose from in order to optimise their systems. This expansion supports our commitment to delivering differentiated, high-performance products.
